Teen Numbers- in a fun format

A colleague of mine shared these awesome Youtube links with me concerning teen numbers. Typically, these can be tricky numbers for the students to remember. However, with the help of these fun little jingles, our students seem to be remembering them well. I thought you might enjoy listening to them with your child.

Turkey Trot

Last week, before we headed out for the Thanksgiving break, some of the kids from our class participated in the Turkey Trot. I was so proud of the group of kids that ran the half-mile course in the cold AND also so proud of the good sportsmanship and support that the students gave as they cheered on their classmates. Here are a few pictures of the fun!

The winner from the kindergarten classes even came from our class. Here he is with the turkey he won!
Afterward we came back to class to make our "turkey cookies" before we headed home for the break.

Mmmm! Look at these delish turkey cookies!

I hope your break was full of wonderful memories and relaxation!

Thanksgiving Break Practice

Here are a few websites the kids can log onto to practice their skills over the break! Keep reading with your child! It is a great opportunity to let children "show off" their new reading abilities to friends and family. I am sure they will be just as impressed as I am!
Thanksgiving:
I am so thankful for working with such wonderful families each day. Your children really are a gift! Thanks for sharing them with me! Enjoy a relaxing holiday with your family and friends.

Food Drive

This is just a reminder that we are collecting canned and boxed foods to donate to the Lee Street Food Pantry. Please send in all donations on or before this Friday the 18th. There is a little friendly competition going on between the classrooms. The class who brings in the most food will win an Ice Cream Party! Thanks for your donations and involvement.

Happy Veterans Day

On Friday, we were visited by a very special veteran, Master Sargent Oakes. He came to deliver flags and a bookmark to each of the students. Here we are in our RED, WHITE, and BLUE!
Here is a picture of our artwork that is hanging in the hallway!
Thank you to all those who have served our country! We are so grateful!

Classroom Happenings

Here are a few pictures of some of the work we have been doing in class this past week. Making patterns and designs with math manipulatives.
A little "Turkey Math": the students counted the stickers and found the matching numbers, then put the numbers in order.
Alphabet Arc...practicing letter order and letter matching.
Beginning Sound Sort: Sorting pictures according to their beginning sounds.

ART PROJECT:
We spent time on Friday creating unique scarecrows.
The kids loved using the different materials {buttons, sequins, scrap paper, and "straw"} to make their scarecrow unique.

Conferences

If I didn't get a chance to meet with you last night, I am looking forward to meeting with you Thursday night! Conferences are such a great opportunity for us to connect and chat about your child's progress so far this year. Thursday night, I will be located in our classroom. Make sure to get a chance to look through our classroom books and write your child a note of praise/encouragement. They love getting these the next morning! Happy Fall!
