100th Day of School!

We are 100 days smarter! It is hard to believe how fast the school year is flying by. We celebrated with many fun activities for the day. We counted, colored, exercised and ate! Whew the morning flew by. Here are a few pictures of our activities.

Our decorated doorway
Zero the Hero dropped by and hid die cut numbers all over our room and each child got to find 100 and glue them to their paper. Here are some pictures of them looking around for the 100s!

100!

We also made a couple different class books. They will be on display at conferences. It was a fun day!

Chinese New Year

Last week we learned a little about Chinese New Year. We had a few parents come in to read us parts of a book and taught us some of the traditions and symbols for the Chinese New Year. This year was the Year of the Dragon.

We colored Dragon masks and had a small "parade". We ended with some {bubble wrap} firecrackers and chocolate coins.

Where did January Go?

Here are our balloons we made stating our 'HIGH Hopes for 2012.' Each child wrote and illustrated something they would like to do this year.

The month of January is whizzing past! We are off to a strong start for this new year. I am including a few pictures from the month of January. {I have been without a computer at home for a little over a week so I am in "catch up" mode.}
Here we are working on patterning. We can pattern in a variety of different ways!
We are also practicing telling time to the hour. Here we are exploring the clocks. Can your child locate the hour and minute hand? Count how many clocks are in your house? Digital/Analog?

In our literacy centers we are working with all of the sight words we know are we are making words with Play-doh.
In gym, the kids did some bowling. They sure were pumped!
MUG PARTY
On Friday we celebrated winter with a "Mug Party". Thanks to all the parents who sent in mugs & treats!

Cookies+ donut holes+ hot cocoa+ great stories= lots of fun for a Friday morning!

Fun Festivities

This past week we enjoyed listening to a variety of versions of the Gingerbread man. The kids did a great job comparing and contrasting the different aspects of each story. At the end of the week the kids did some taste testing. They had to follow the difficult direction of taking only one bite. Then we graphed how many kids took a bit of the leg, the arm, or the head.

All in all it was a fun and tasty way to discuss the different books!
